Finding a Person with the Help of the Sun
In the Nath tradition, communicating through the five elements (Panchamahabhutas) is considered normal and practical. Here is an incident that occurred with the grace of Surya Narayana.
A man named Guru, an engineer working in Pune, was sent to Narendranath by his employer, who had earlier benefited immensely from the Nath Shaktipith. When Guru faced serious personal difficulties, he was advised to seek help.
Guru had married five–six years earlier. His parents and in-laws lived in a distant village. Soon after marriage, bitter family conflicts broke out. Guru left the village, moved to Pune, and lost all contact with everyone — parents, in-laws, and even his wife. Years later, when he tried reconnecting, he learned that all of them had left the village permanently. No one knew where they had gone.
As memories faded and emotional distance grew, Guru openly declared the marriage over. He wanted to remarry, but the lawyer insisted he must obtain a legal divorce. For that, he needed to locate his wife — but she could not be found anywhere.
Helpless, he approached Narendranath and pleaded: “By any means, please arrange a meeting between me and my wife.” When asked whether he wanted to reunite, Guru replied: “I do not want to live with her or with any relatives. I only want to trace her so that legal matters can be closed.”
Seeing his sincerity and helplessness, Narendranath agreed to help and said: “Within fifteen days, your wife will meet you personally — right where you are.” Guru was stunned.
Narendranath gave him a mantra and instructed him to offer morning and evening salutations to the Sun every day.
Narendranath’s Prayer to Surya
Because Surya’s rays reach every corner of the universe, Narendranath prayed in the Nath tradition:
“O Surya Narayana, wherever Guru’s wife may be, reach her through your rays and bring her to Pune within fifteen days.”
Surya is the Jagat-Atma, the Soul of the Universe. Nothing is hidden from his rays. Although seeking direct divine intervention is unusual, in the Nath tradition certain tasks require assistance from the Panchamahabhutas, and Surya is the embodiment of Fire.
The Miracle
On the 15th day, while Guru was at work, his wife appeared directly before him. He was shocked — wondering if she was a ghost. He touched her hand to confirm she was real.
Before speaking to her, he immediately called Narendranath: “She is here! Standing right in front of me! What should I do?”
Narendranath replied calmly: “Speak openly. Decide your path together. I only arranged the meeting.”
Guru and his wife discussed their situation. Narendranath did not interfere further. He had fulfilled exactly what he promised: to bring them face to face.
Mastery Over the Five Elements
Earlier we saw how Nath yogis communicate through Earth. Similarly, communication can occur through:
* Earth * Water * Fire (including Sun-energy) * Air * Space
In this incident, Surya’s rays acted as the medium.
Many misconceptions portray the Nath tradition as sorcery. This is entirely false. Nath-panth exists only for the welfare and upliftment of all beings. Its powers — both positive and negative — remain under the guidance of Bhagwan Dattatreya, the eternal master of the panth.
He continues the stream of Guru-Charitra, a flow that will remain as long as Kali-yuga exists. We only need to understand and walk on that path.
