Meeting With Shankaracharya - Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham

For the welfare of mankind, the Nath Panth has always maintained a broad, universal vision. In this very context, Jayendra Saraswati Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham invited Sadguru Narendra Nath Maharaj for a private meeting after studying his work at the Nath Shaktipeeth — especially the *Vedic methods used for revitalizing destiny* (भाग्य पुनरुज्जीवन). Recognizing the significance of this spiritual mission, the Shankaracharya personally arranged special travel and stay arrangements for Shri Narendra Nath Maharaj and his disciple Shri Shrikant Shastri Gadadhar, inviting them directly to Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham.

The meeting was scheduled late at night at 10:30 PM, attended only by three people — Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati, Narendra Nath Maharaj, and Shrikant Shastri.

During this private discussion, the Shankaracharya:

  • - Carefully reviewed the activities carried out by the Nath Shaktipeeth.
  • - Sought detailed insights into the Nath tradition and its scriptural foundations.
  • - Discussed the challenges and crises he was facing and sought spiritual guidance.
  • - Explored how Vedic rituals and mantras are used within the Nath Panth for restoring spiritual balance and purifying environments.
  • - Requested support from Nath Shaktipeeth in overcoming social and political challenges the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham was encountering in its mission to protect and uplift Hindu Dharma.

He expressed that Nath Shaktipeeth should help purify the spiritual atmosphere around various temples and ashrams of the Kamakoti Peetham across India.

During the dialogue, it was decided that a special Anushthana and Havan would be conducted at Kanchi Kamakoti to resolve his personal spiritual difficulties. Dates for the Havan were finalized immediately, and the Shankaracharya assured that he would attend personally.

Efforts made through Nath Shaktipeeth ultimately helped him, leading to complete relief from the accusations and difficulties he was facing. Appreciating the power of the rituals, he urged Narendra Nath Maharaj to work *exclusively* for the upliftment of Hindus across India.

However, Narendra Nath Maharaj clearly explained:

  • - The Nath Panth works beyond caste, religion, or community boundaries.
  • - It is a cosmic tradition rooted in the welfare of all beings.
  • - Vedic rituals can purify the atmosphere for *everyone*, not only Hindus.
  • - While personal Anushthanas can be done for individuals, collective havans are for universal welfare.

This universal approach did not fully align with Jayendra Saraswati’s view, but he respected the principle and honored Narendra Nath Maharaj with a special felicitation.

Examples of Transformative Encounters with People of Different Faiths

Many people from various communities experienced spiritual transformation in the presence of Narendra Nath Maharaj, such as:

  • - Carlton D’Costa – A Christian
  • - Dilip Bhandari – A Jain
  • - Tahir Ali Khan – A Muslim

All three participated in Vedic Anushthana–Havan rituals under Maharaj’s guidance, even though their religions typically do not accept such practices. Each of them received significant spiritual benefit, leading to a complete shift in their perception of Hindu Vedic traditions. One remarkable incident occurred in Pune:

While a Havan was in progress, Tahir Ali Khan, a Muslim devotee, earnestly requested to meet Maharaj. Initially stopped due to ritual purity rules, he pleaded with deep devotion. When asked, Narendra Nath Maharaj said:

  • > *“Saints and the Nath Panth never discriminate based on caste or religion.
  • > The right to liberation belongs to every soul.
  • > God created humans — society created caste.”*

He was allowed inside. Tahir Ali, with folded hands, bowed and said: *“To take your darshan, I have not eaten non-veg for a month, and since morning I haven’t even had water.”* This moment deeply reflected the universal appeal of the Nath Panth.

The Universal Nature of Vedic Mantras

Narendra Nath Maharaj explained:

  • - Vedic mantras arise from cosmic intelligence (ब्रह्मांडीय योजना).
  • - They benefit *all of humanity*, not just any one religion.
  • - However, proper scriptural discipline is essential for them to produce results.

Renowned Western thinkers, after decades of research, have acknowledged the greatness of Hindu Dharma. Dr. Annie Besant said:

“After studying the religions of the world for over 40 years, I found none so perfect, scientific, philosophical, or spiritual as Hinduism. The more you know it, the more you will love it.”

Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham works exclusively for the development of Hindu Dharma. But the Nath Panth was created to uplift the entire world, especially in Kaliyuga. It is a tradition designed for universal welfare — for all beings, irrespective of religion, caste, or community. And that is why the Nath Panth remains a guiding light for all.
