Change Through Nath Worship
Introduction: This chapter presents a rare and extraordinary principle of the Nath Sampradaya: through Nath worship and the presence of Siddha Nath Gurus, even stone idols (murtis) in temples can undergo visible transformation. This power exists because the Nath path itself was created according to the cosmic design of Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, and Lord Dattatreya.
Origin of the Nath Path
The Nath tradition is not merely a devotional movement; it is a divinely engineered system whose foundation was laid jointly by Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh (Shiva), and Lord Dattatreya. Lord Dattatreya — the spiritual guide of all gods, the overseer of cosmic law, and the only being capable of altering creation’s rules — empowered Machchhindranath and commanded him: “Continue Nath work throughout Kali Yuga.”
From this command emerged the Nava Narayana, divine beings born ayonija (without a human womb), who established the Nath lineage. Before completing their mission, they created a structure through which the tradition would continue via human-born Siddha Gurus, who even today carry the same power, authority, and cosmic responsibility as the original Navnaths.
Krishna’s Declaration About Nath Yogis
Before the end of Dwapara Yuga, Lord Krishna activated the Nath tradition and declared a cosmic law:
“Whenever a Nath Yogi enters a temple, the deity of that temple will step aside, and the god will appear in person to welcome the Nath.”
This astonishing statement reveals a deeper cosmic truth.
Why Idol Transformation Is Normally Impossible
Temple murtis are carved from stone (Earth element). After consecration (prāṇapratiṣṭhā):
* deities do not modify the idol * Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh do not alter it * creation’s laws prevent any elemental restructuring
For a stone idol to transform:
* the Earth element must lose its inherent stability * the five elements must momentarily reorganize * divine presence must manifest in living expression
This is impossible under ordinary cosmic law.
But Lord Dattatreya holds the authority to:
* suspend universal rules * rearrange elemental structures * manifest deities in living form * transform sacred stone
He placed this capability only within the Nath Sampradaya, honouring its cosmic purpose.
The Aurangabad Ram Temple Miracle
During Nath work, Narendranath Maharaj visited the Ram temple in Samarth Nagar, Aurangabad. Before entering, he prayed: “O Lord Ram, we receive Your darshan today only through my Guru’s grace. Please permit us to enter.”
As he stepped inside, he saw not the idol, but Lord Ram Himself, standing and smiling in welcome.
Later photographs showed that:
* all temple idols now displayed new expressions * faces once severe now radiated joy and compassion * the transformation was permanent
Bells Moving on Their Own
During bhajan:
* temple bells began swinging by themselves * devotees tried to stop them * the bells resumed movement * they stopped only when the bhajan ended
This was Ram’s subtle declaration of His presence.
The Anusuya Ashram Event (Himalayas)
At the Anusuya temple, the Nath disciple group was initially seated thirty feet away from the Devi idol. After several days of practice:
* devotees began asking the priest if a new idol had been installed * the stone murti appeared brighter, transformed, and radiant
Only then did the priest realise the transformation began after the Nath Yogis arrived. He opened the temple fully to them.
The Unique Power of the Nath Tradition
In both temples:
* stone idols changed * elemental structure shifted * divine presence manifested * ancient murti-energy transformed permanently
This expresses a core Nath truth:
Where Nath Yogis sit, the five elements themselves are purified and transformed.
Essence
The Nath path possesses unparalleled spiritual power because:
* it was created by the cosmic trinity * it is governed by Lord Dattatreya * it can modify elemental structure * it can transform idols * gods themselves honour Nath Yogis with personal appearance
Such experiences affirm one eternal message:
Blessed are those who approach with pure devotion and Guru-trust, for they witness miracles beyond the reach of ordinary spiritual paths.
