Vitthalnath’s Command to Vishwanath

Vitthalnath had personally received divine instruction from Lord Balaji to continue the work of the Nath Sampradaya through the lineage established at Chitrakoot.

Before entering samadhi, Vitthalnath passed the responsibility of the Nath lineage to **Vishwanath**. Madhavanath was born in Vitthalnath’s presence, but Vitthalnath understood that Madhavanath would need many years before becoming capable of leading the tradition. Therefore, to avoid a long interruption in the spiritual work of the lineage, he appointed Vishwanath as the next successor, following the discipline of the Nath tradition.

Vitthalnath informed his chief disciples that after Vishwanath, Madhavanath would take over the lineage. He made this plan clear to everyone because: - His own samadhi was near, - Madhavanath was still very young, - And a long break in leadership could negatively affect the spiritual environment.

Vitthalnath knew that even after Vishwanath, it would still take time before Madhavanath could assume full responsibility. Therefore, he ensured that the transition would happen exactly according to the divine plan — no one except Madhavanath would ever sit on the Chitrakoot gaddi. Such precise planning shows the extraordinary foresight and spiritual authority of the Nath yogis.

In the Nath Sampradaya, the Guru manifests outcomes through pure sankalpa (divine intention). Because they hold mastery over the five great elements, they can shape events according to what is needed—always in harmony with time, destiny, and cosmic order.
