Narendranath Maharaj
After the Mahasamadhi of Param Pujya Shri Vyankatanath Maharaj — the Nath Guru who tirelessly uplifted humanity — the Guru-command was entrusted to Param Pujya Shri Narendranath Maharaj, who continues this sacred mission from Nath Shaktipeeth, Akola.
Early Life
Param Pujya Shri Narendranath Maharaj was born as Shri Narendra Jagannath Chaudhary in 1937 in a highly educated family of Akola. His father, Shri Jagannath Chaudhary, was an advocate; his uncle, Shri Ganapati Chaudhary, a teacher; and his mother was active in the Indian National Congress movement and among the first to introduce modern child-education methods in the region. From childhood he was scientific, disciplined, logical, and analytical, and because of this rational mindset he initially had no belief in God, religion, yoga, or spirituality. As a child he would say to his mother: “Instead of worshiping these stone idols, tell me what you need — I will give it to you. What can a stone do?”
Academic Excellence
In 1958 he completed B.Com from Nagpur University and in 1962 qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Along with this he completed ICWA (Inter), LLB (Part I), Short-Hand & Typing, Radio Engineering, and M.Com. During these years he came into contact with Yogabhyānand Shri Vyankatanath Maharaj of the Nath tradition.
First Encounter with the Nath Path
In the presence of Vyankatanath Maharaj he witnessed many extraordinary, scientifically precise spiritual events which revealed to him that there exist powers beyond ordinary human capability, powers rooted not in superstition but in a scientific spiritual discipline. With this understanding he accepted Anugraha (initiation) from Shri Vyankatanath Maharaj on Nath Shashti, 1963, beginning his profound spiritual journey.
Family and Professional Life
In 1963 he married Kum. Kunda Tambe of Nagpur University, who later became Head of Department (Economics).
- Their son is a Chartered Accountant.
- Their daughter is an M.Com graduate.
