Ramdas Swami

Ramdas Swami, regarded by many as an incarnation of Lord Hanuman, taught a profound yet simple truth about life. He said that God has already provided the basic needs—food and water—for every living being, and that the unfolding of life—its joys and sorrows—is also part of a divine plan. If a person keeps his life aligned with prayer, remembrance of God’s name, devotion, and spiritual discipline, then spiritual liberation becomes much easier.

“God is the one who gives food to all creatures. > Yet the mind worries for no reason. > Taking God’s name costs nothing— > so why hesitate, O mind?”

In essence, Ramdas Swami reminds us that God cares for all, and remembering Him brings peace.

Human Desires Go Beyond Basic Needs

Humans rarely stop at wanting only food or survival. Their desires expand toward wealth, status, recognition, fame, influence, and personal importance. People work tirelessly to fulfil these desires. Very few ever think, *“Let me live a life centered on devotion and spiritual purpose.”* Only saints and spiritually awakened souls naturally carry such thoughts.

The Trap of Inner Emotions

With growing desires, humans fall into the grip of six inner enemies (*ṣaḍ-ripu*): kāma (desire), krodha (anger), mada (pride), moha (attachment), lobha (greed), matsara (jealousy). These forces create restlessness, suffering, and confusion. Eventually a person wonders: “Why am I suffering? Why is my life like this?”

Ramdas Swami’s Answer

Ramdas Swami explains:

“O mind, the experiences you face today > are the results of actions you performed long ago.”

This teaching reveals that present difficulties or joys come not only from current actions, but also from past-life karmic impressions.

The Way Forward

Ramdas Swami does not preach helplessness; he offers a clear path forward: spiritual practice, devotion (bhakti), remembrance of God’s name, and guidance under a true Guru. These practices purify past karma and gradually lead the soul toward peace, strength, and liberation.
