“Aśakya te tumhā nāhī Nārāyaṇā — even the impossible becomes possible through You. You can bring consciousness even into the lifeless.” In the second chapter of the *Guru-Charitra*, the origin of the universe is described. The Vedas say that there was a time when there was no sun, no moon, no stars, no night, no day, no earth, no water—nothing at all. Everything was empty, covered in darkness. Yet within this void existed one invisible power, known as Ādiśakti—the Primordial Energy. She was in a state of deep sleep, and the sound of her breathing slowly transformed into the sound Om. From her mouth arose the first Ṛk-mantras, the earliest Vedic sounds, which we now call Veda Mantras. Through these Vedic vibrations the entire universe, nature, and all living beings came into existence. Since creation itself occurred through Vedic sound, the Vedic mantras can also influence everything within creation. This is the teaching of all four Vedas. Whoever gains mastery over these Vedic principles can bring about transformation in both living and non-living beings through mantra.
Every element of creation has its own nature, science, and inherent behaviour. For example, water has no life of its own, yet all life depends on water. Its nature is to remain fluid and to flow. No matter what you command, water cannot suddenly turn into stone. If a heavy object is dropped into water, it will sink due to its natural properties; if its nature allows it, it may rise again. Such natural laws cannot be altered by anyone, not even by the gods who created the universe. Once the universe was created, the fundamental structure of each Yuga (Satya, Treta, Dvāpara, Kali) was fixed permanently. These foundational laws cannot be changed by anyone — not Brahmā, not Viṣṇu, not Maheś. Thus the first three Yugas were formed with pure and positive qualities, while Kali Yuga was created with many weaknesses — and no divine being could change these original flaws. Understanding this, Lord Krishna (Viṣṇu) created the Navnāth Sampradāya — nine great sages — to support humanity in Kali Yuga and to guide people through its difficulties. But even the Nāth Panth was not given permission to change the original design of Kali Yuga. Instead, they were empowered to help individuals overcome the negative effects of the age. This is why the *Guru-Charitra* focuses not on changing the laws of creation but on teaching how to overcome difficulties, suffering, karma, destiny, and mental turmoil. Through devotion, spiritual practice, and the grace of the Guru, one can transform one’s life.
All creation — visible and invisible, living and non-living, above ground and underground — is under the authority of Lord Dattātreya, who embodies the combined powers of Brahmā, Viṣṇu and Maheś. Although these three created the universe, they do not control everything within it. Only Lord Dattātreya — and through Him, the lineage of true Gurus — has the power to influence creation. This is why the impossible becomes possible only through the Guru-tattva. “अशक्य तें तुम्हां नाही नारायणा — Nothing is impossible for you, O Nārāyaṇa. You can bring consciousness even into what is lifeless.”
Once, Vyankatanāth Maharaj was travelling from Amravati to Nagpur with a group of disciples. On the way, they reached a large bridge over the Wardha River. It was the monsoon season, and the river was in severe flood — ten feet of water was flowing above the bridge. All vehicles had stopped, unable to cross. The disciples said, “Maharaj, we must wait. The current is too strong. If the car enters the water, it will be swept away.” Maharaj replied calmly, “Start the car. We will go ahead.” The driver refused out of fear, so Maharaj himself sat at the wheel, asked the driver to move aside, and started the car. Approaching the rushing waters, Maharaj addressed the river: “O Mother River, either give us passage or swallow us whole.” With that, he drove straight into the flood. Astonishingly, the car did not stall. It floated forward as if supported by an unseen force and safely reached the other side of the bridge. Witnessing this, a truck driver — thinking the water was safe — attempted the same. His truck was immediately swept away. This made it clear to everyone that water changed its behaviour only for the Guru, not forever and not for everyone. This is the Guru’s power over all elements of creation. “Aśakya te tumhā nāhī Nārāyaṇā — For You, O Lord, nothing is impossible. You can awaken consciousness even in the lifeless.”
