Hanuman — One of the Seven Immortal Beings (Saptachiranjiva)

Among the seven immortal beings, known as the *Saptachiranjivas*, Lord Hanuman is one of the most prominent. According to ancient Indian tradition, these beings have lived on Earth since the beginning of creation. For a modern person, the idea that someone has lived for four million years or more may seem impossible, yet Hanuman is described as *still present on Earth* in a subtle divine form. Scriptures and sacred histories consistently affirm this. All seven immortal beings have mastery over the five elements — earth, water, fire, air and space. Because of this, they are not limited by the normal rules that govern the human body, climate, or physical existence. They can appear anywhere, in any form, according to their divine will. Human limitations such as “where do they stay?” or “what do they eat?” simply do not apply to them. Their purpose is simple: to guide sincere seekers, inspire devotion, and uplift beings toward God.

Why Human Beings Rarely Perceive Them

Human life is bound by past karmas (sanchit), destiny (prarabdha) and innate tendencies (prakriti). The six inner enemies — desire, anger, pride, attachment, greed and jealousy — weaken spiritual awareness and cloud perception. Because of this, humans find it difficult to recognize or experience the presence of such divine beings. However, when a person approaches with a feeling heart, sincere devotion and clean intention, then Hanuman and the other Chiranjeevis reveal their presence. Their guidance is often subtle: inner clarity, courage, strength or a sudden solution that appears at exactly the right moment. They awaken discrimination, guide the mind and gently push the seeker toward the right action.

The True Obstacle: Our Own Mind

The greatest difficulty is not external — it is the unstable human mind. The mind rarely becomes still; it constantly produces doubt, fear and confusion. In this restless condition, developing spiritual stability becomes very challenging. Modern life intensifies this instability through television, mobile phones, movies, social media and constant information flow, which overstimulate the mind. Without inner stillness, meditation, devotion and spiritual growth become nearly impossible. Thus, when ancient events or miracles are mentioned today, many people dismiss them not because they are untrue, but because the mind has lost the purity and steadiness needed to understand such realities.

The Living Presence of Hanuman

As children we would shout, “Jai Bajrang Bali!” and instantly feel courage. This was not imagination; it was the living response of Hanuman to sincere feeling. Hanuman has stood strong for millions of years, constantly protecting and uplifting beings. He does not need to announce His presence; we experience Him directly as strength, clarity, protection and fearlessness. All that is required is to acknowledge this inner experience honestly.

The Power of Hanuman Worship

Hanuman’s worship benefits everyone — through body (kaya), speech (vacha) and mind (manasa). As an eternal brahmachari absorbed in devotion and service, His purity gives His worship immediate and powerful effects. It is widely believed that Samarth Ramdas Swami, author of *Dasbodh*, was an incarnation or manifestation of Hanuman’s power. In simple words: Wherever there is faith, purity and sincerity, Hanuman is present — guiding, protecting and uplifting.
