At Chitrakoot, Chaitanya Shri Kashinath Maharaj installed Shri Vitthalnath Maharaj on the Nath Panth’s spiritual seat and instructed him, saying, “After me, you shall carry forward the work of the Nath Panth.”
Later, prior to attaining samadhi, Vitthalnath Maharaj appointed Vishwanath Maharaj as his successor and entrusted him with the responsibility of continuing the Panth’s work. At the same time, he also declared—in the 18th century—that Madhavnath Maharaj would be entrusted with the future mission and responsibilities of the Nath Panth.
