Guru Beyond Death

Introduction: This chapter explains a rare and powerful truth of the Nath tradition: A True Guru’s authority is not limited to living beings. Their power extends beyond death, destiny, and even the laws of creation.

Revan Nath’s Extraordinary Act

Revan Nath once fought with Shiva’s messengers, and even with Shiva himself, to rescue seven souls whom Vishnu had taken.

Vishnu said to Revan Nath:

“I return these souls to you, but you must restore them in their original bodies and with their original destinies.”

Revan Nath did exactly that— he revived seven dead children in their original forms.

This act appears impossible to the human mind, yet becomes natural when one has mastery over the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, space) that form the physical body.

Power Over Rebirth

A soul never dies. Normally, after death:

* the soul waits for the right time * takes a new body based on karma * enters a suitable womb

No god—Brahma, Vishnu, or Shiva—changes this process. Their roles are limited to:

* creation * preservation * dissolution

But Lord Dattatreya, the spiritual Guru of the universe, can intervene in life and death. He has given this power to the Nath lineage.

Therefore:

* Nath Gurus can bring back souls without rebirth * They can alter destiny * They can reconnect a soul with its previous body if needed

Always for spiritual benefit—never for display or ego.

The Authority of the Nath Gurus

The nine Nath Masters (Navnath) and their successors possess:

* dominance over the five elements * authority across the three worlds * the ability to manifest or dissolve bodies at will

Vyankatnath Maharaj, the 15th Nath in lineage from Machchhindranath, had full command over these elements.

Saint Dnyaneshwar (Gyananath, 5th Nath) also demonstrated this power by awakening Vedic memory in a bull and making it recite scriptures.

Such acts show:

A Nath Guru can reach any soul, anywhere in the universe. Until a soul attains liberation, the Guru’s influence is possible.

A Personal Experience in Pandharpur

The author narrates a direct incident:

His grandmother once visited Vyankatnath Maharaj, who told her:

“Narendra is my true son. He will continue my work.”

Years later, after the grandfather passed away, the grandmother was grief-stricken. Even after a year, she had not seen him once in a dream.

When the author visited, she pleaded:

“Show me your grandfather. He has not appeared even once.”

He said:

“I will show him to all of you—but you must come to Chandrabhaga sands this evening.”

The Vision on Chandrabhaga Sands

At sunset, they prepared the place:

* cleaned the area * spread mats * placed a photo of the Guru * began devotional singing

As the aarti began:

Everyone present saw the grandfather appear clearly in different forms.

After people left, the author began packing. When he lifted the mat, he found:

The footprints (padukas) of the Guru pressed in the sand, with fresh flowers resting on them without being crushed.

Awe and silence filled the group.

The author reflects:

*His grandparents were not disciples of Vyankatnath Maharaj.* Yet, through sincere prayer, Maharaj brought the departed soul into visible form.

Essence

Nath power operates across:

* life * death * the five elements * all levels of the universe

A True Guru works only for upliftment—never for show.

Death cannot limit the Guru. Nor can destiny. The Guru’s reach extends wherever the soul exists.
